What we cater

Catering for Every Family Occasion in Bengaluru

Each occasion has its own rhythm — its own timings, its own order of serving, its own idea of what a good meal should feel like. Four decades in, we know them by heart.

Wedding & Reception Catering

Full multi-day wedding catering — muhurtham lunch, reception dinner, and the smaller family meals around them. Traditional banana leaf service or buffet, at your choice of hall or convention centre.

Upanayana & Thread Ceremony

Ritual-appropriate satvik menus prepared to the family's custom, with the timings that the ceremony demands and separate arrangements where tradition requires them.

Gruhapravesha & Housewarming

Early-morning pooja bites through to a full afternoon meal, cooked and served at your new home — even where the kitchen is not yet running.

Corporate Lunch & Offsite Catering

Pure veg office lunches, festival celebrations, town halls and offsites across Bengaluru's tech parks, with counts that hold steady from 50 plates to 1,500.

Temple & Community Functions

Prasadam, annadana and satvik community meals prepared under the observances your temple or trust follows — no onion, no garlic, where that is the requirement.

Naming Days & House Functions

Small, warm gatherings from 15 guests upward — the occasions where the food should taste like it came from your own kitchen, only without the work.

Our cooking

Four Vegetarian Kitchens Under One Roof

We cook what Bengaluru families actually ask for — and we cook it the way it is meant to be cooked, not a compromise version of four cuisines at once.

  • Udupi & South Indian — the traditional coastal Karnataka repertoire: kosambari, palya, huli, saaru, chitranna, holige, payasa, served in the canonical order on a banana leaf.
  • North Indian — paneer and dal preparations, tandoori-style starters, rotis and rice for guests who expect a North Indian counter alongside.
  • Jain — no onion, no garlic, no root vegetables, cooked in separately handled vessels, with the observances respected end to end.
  • Satvik — pooja and ritual meals prepared to temple discipline, for functions where the food is part of the observance.

Full menus, per-plate options and seasonal specials are planned with you over a call — every menu we send is built for your occasion, guest count and budget.

Why families come back

What Four Decades in the Kitchen Actually Buys You

Our own kitchen

Food is cooked in our own facility, by our own cooks, to our own standards — not subcontracted to whoever is free that weekend.

In-house trained staff

The people serving at your function are our people. They know the serving order, they know the pace, and they know when a guest's leaf needs a second round.

Our own equipment

Vessels, burners, counters and serving gear are ours and come with us. Nothing is left to a last-minute rental that doesn't turn up.

Banana leaf service, done right

The traditional serving order on a leaf isn't decoration — it is how the meal is meant to be eaten. We hold that line at every traditional function.

FSSAI licensed & hygiene-first

A licensed, inspected kitchen with disciplined handling from purchase to service. FSSAI Lic. No. TODO

One family, two generations

Founded by Mr. Panduranga Gokhale in 1980 and run by the family since. The name on the van is the name answering the phone.

How it works

From First Call to Last Leaf Cleared

  1. Tell us the occasion

Call or WhatsApp with your date, venue and rough guest count. We'll tell you straight away whether the date is open.

  2. We plan the menu with you

We build a menu around the occasion, the season and your budget — including any Jain, satvik or no onion–garlic requirements.

  3. You confirm the count and the date

A written menu and per-plate quote, an advance, and the date is yours. Counts can be adjusted up to the agreed cut-off.

  4. We cook, serve and clear

Our team arrives early, cooks on schedule, serves through the function and leaves the space clean. You attend your own event.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Rao's Catering Services fully vegetarian?

Yes. We have been 100% pure vegetarian since 1980. No meat, fish or egg has ever entered the kitchen, so there is no question of shared utensils or cross-contamination. Jain, no onion–no garlic and satvik menus are prepared on request.

How many guests can you cater for?

From 15 guests for a small house function up to 3,000 guests for a wedding or convention — handled with our own kitchen, our own equipment and in-house trained service staff.

Which events do you cater for?

Weddings and receptions, upanayana (thread ceremony), gruhapravesha (housewarming), naming ceremonies, corporate lunches and offsites, and temple functions and prasadam service.

Do you serve traditional banana leaf meals?

Yes — banana leaf service in the correct traditional serving order is a specialty. We also do buffet, live counter and plated service depending on the venue and the occasion.

Which areas of Bengaluru do you cover?

All of Bengaluru, including Basavanagudi, Jayanagar, Rajajinagar, Malleswaram, Banashankari, Whitefield, Electronic City and Yelahanka. Events elsewhere in India are arranged on request.

How far in advance should I book?

For wedding season dates, three to six months ahead is safest. Smaller house functions and corporate lunches can often be arranged with two to three weeks' notice. Call +91 80 6222 2244 to check a date.
